The advantage of continuous-duty horsepower.
Treadmills with a "continuous-duty" horsepower rating mean that the motor can sustain a certain horsepower throughout your workout. Treadmills not rated as "continuous-duty" are generally a "peak" rating...meaning the treadmill may be able to reach a certain horsepower briefly, but not sustain it.
In short, this means that a 2.5 HP "continuous-duty" motor is actually more powerful than a regularly rated 2.5 HP motor. This is important to know when comparing one treadmill to another.

Nordictrack X7i Incline Trainer

I used the Nordictrack Incline Trainer X7i to train for an outdoor race that I ran. It was very helpful because I was able to run the race on the machine before hand and know what I was getting myself into. It was great to be able to know the terrain I would be facing and also the exact distances of the hills. With this I was able to pace myself and know how fast I should be running. The machine is very durable, I am about 250 and ran up to 10 miles at a time on it and it held up great with no sign of problems. Great machine, very satisfied with my purchase.

I absolutely believe in incline training. I've seen awesome results with the people I train on The Biggest Loser, and I use it as part of my own workout.
Here's why:
Incline training is more efficient than other aerobic exercises. At just 25% incline, and 2 mph, you’ll burn 3 times the calories compared to walking on a level surface. Ragnar on the X7i

So I ran the Ragnar Relay Series Wasatch Back on the X7i Incline Trainer this weekend. It was a workout definately! It got up to a 20% incline in some spots, it was a good workout.

The Ragnar

Last night I set up my Ifit Live account so that I could run the Ragnar leg of the Wasatch Back that I have to run on Saturday. It was really good to know before hand exactly what I am going to be doing and how diffucult that will be. It was tough up to 20% incline at some spots. But I am glad I have that luxury of doing it before hand. The picture above shows the incline change throughout the whle workout.

A.C.T. Commercial Elliptical

Nordictrack X7i Incline Trainer

I am still using the X7i to train for the Ragnar Wasatch Back. I really enjoy it and its not just a Incline Trainer if that is what you are thinking. This is my favorite treadmill that I have been on so far. The cushioning is just right and feels great. The features it has are hands down the best, how much else cooler can you get than creating your own Google Map with Ifit Live and simulate running anywhere in the world?

The Nordictrack Commercial ZS is a great machine, I just tried it out and it has a big enough motor for me at 240 lbs and felt really good. It is last years model so right now is on a great sale price and as soon as it is sold out there are no more left. Hurry up and take advantage.

Nordictrack Pathfinder

I recently tried out the Nordictrack Pathfinder it is a reall good machine especially if you have any joint problems. It utilizes a new shock system that makes it smoother and virtually no impact when in use. The shock system also stimulates more muscle making your legs stronger, tighter and lean faster than any other elliptical. I was impressed with the machine.

A really neat feature that new Proform Treadmills as well as Nordictrack Ellipticals and Treadmills have. It allows you to create your own trails and simulate running anywhere in the world. Treadmill Incline vs Hills

So for my Ragnar training I have a leg where I have to run over 4 miles at a roughly 15% incline. So I decided to test how realistic it was from running outside on a actual hill to on the Incline Trainer. I was really suprised how similar it felt, give you do have supports on the Incline Trainer to help you but I tried not to use those and it was really good practice for actually going up a hill. Verdict the X7i Incline Trainer will allow you to simulate almost any terrain you can find outside!

Socks?

So I got some new shoes and with it I saw some new socks that said they had "dynamic support" and extra cushioning. The first time I put them on it was when I first wore my new shoes, also it was a jog outside, and my feet and legs were killing me!!! So I thought here we go these shoes were a bad choice and I am in for it. So I ran with my old shoes and the same thing happened, so with that I realized it was the socks. I never would have thought that socks could make that big of a difference but I am here to tell you it does. No matter if i was running outside or on a treadmill it hurt. So make sure you got the right equipment.

Ragnar

I was asked to run Ragnar for my work, to be honest I am not a runner, at most I get the fitness bug and start running and it only lasts a week. So I thought this would be a great opportunity to get me motivated and stay that way, because I cant just quit now with a race looming. To show people what our machines are capable of we are runnning the whole Ragnar Wasatch Back on our Nordictrack X7i Incline Trainer. I am excited because I really do enjoy running on treadmills and this is something I am counting on getting me going and I hope i can continue it even after the race.

Running Outside vs. Treadmill

My sister asked me to go run with her the other day, I am used to running on treadmills but we dont have a 2 person treadmill so we decided to go run outside. After about a mile my shins were killing me, so I just gutted it out and finished the run. This just made me apprciate how great my Nordictrack Reflex Deck is!!!! I can run for as long as I want and I have no issues with my shins or legs hurting.

Have been training for RAGNAR on my treadmill at home that has a reflex deck. I love it, thought it might be to springy for me but has a great feel and I swear I can run longer distances on that that just standard treadmills.
